Grand Canyon National Park was established in 1919 in Arizona and is home to much of the immense Grand Canyon. Human use of the canyon dates back at least 13,000 years; however, its layered bands of red rock reveal millions of years of geological history.

There are many scenic spots that provide wonderful vistas from the rim including Mary Colter’s Lookout Studio and her Desert View Watchtower, Mather Point, Yavapai Observation Station, and Lipan Point. Many of these come with wide views of the canyon and Colorado River, and they are especially popular at sunrise and sunset.

Grand Canyon National Park is also a fantastic place to see critically endangered California Condors up close and personal. Sometimes they sun themselves on the Canyon rim near trails.
