Yellowstone National Park sits atop a volcanic hot spot in Wyoming and includes parts of Montana and Idaho. It was established in the year 1872. In addition, 2 million acres of Yellowstone is managed as a wilderness recreation area.

Yellowstone features unique geothermal geology like gushing geysers, including its most famous, Old Faithful. Dramatic canyons, alpine rivers, forests, and hot springs are all within reach in Yellowstone.

Not only does Yellowstone have one of the greatest concentrations of mammals in the lower 48 states, it also has multiple intact predator-prey ecosystems which have mostly been extirpated from much of the rest of the country. It's also home to hundreds of animal species, including bears, wolves, bison, elk and antelope. Yellowstone was also one of the first reintroduction sites for Gray Wolves in the United States.
